How to submit comments to the Board
The overall direction of Chugach Electric Association is guided by a board of 7 directors elected by its member-owners (i.e. anyone who pays an electricity bill to them). One of the best ways to engage with the board is by submitting comments either prior to, or at, board meetings, which happen on the fourth Wednesday of every month in person at Chugach Electric offices, location on Electron Dr. in Anchorage, off International Aiport Rd.
There are three main ways to submit comments:
In person, at the board meeting. To get on the list of folks commenting, fill out this form. It's best to try and show up on time, because they usually do the public comments first.
Virtually at the board meeting. Fill out that same form, to get a link to the meeting livestream, and get on the list to share member comments either over the telephone or via video call.
Submit written comments via email. The email address of the 7 board members are publicly available, and they look forward to hearing from the members whose interests they represent. Simply type up your comment in an email, and CC all 7 board members:

Rachel Morse, Treasurer rachelm@chugachboard.com
Susanne Fleek-Green, Secretary susannef@chugachboard.com

Tips on effective comments:
Let them know who you are and where you live. Comments from member-owners (ie. Ratepayers!) are most persuasive. Maybe you don't pay a bill to Chugach but someone else in your household does? Mention their name.
Telling a personal story is impactful, and it doesn't need to be a crazy one. Why do you care about the issue you are commenting on? How does it effect you?
Keep it short and sweet. Believe it or not, one or two direct, personal comments from ratepayers can really sway a decision maker. It is worth sharing your two cents, and you don't need to be a policy expert to contribute!
